Then he asked again, “How come we’re not receiving any?”

“It’s okay, baby. There are people who need the relief goods more than we do. Daddy and mommy both have work, right?”

“Bakit wala po ba silang work?” (“Don’t they have work?”)

I explained to him that some of them do, but they don’t earn enough to support their family.

He still looked puzzled, “Mahirap ba sila, mommy?” (Are they poor?)

I was hesitant to answer, so I just gave him a nod.

“Eh mahirap din naman tayo ah!” (But we’re also poor!)

I laughed hard and shook my head. “Hindi ah!”

The truth is, I sounded a little defensive when I said that. LOL.

I was so touched by his out-of-the-blue question that I couldn’t answer him right away. I guess I was just too stunned by the fact that my two-year-old baby just asked me that kind of heart-warming question. It was amazing. He was wearing his favorite pajamas that night and he looked like a real angel that fell from the sky.

I smiled, stroked his hair and told him: “Of course, baby! Mommy loves you very much!”

Greggy gave me the most mischievous smile I’d ever seen. Then he said, “Talaga, mommy? Pa-burger ka naman! Burger! burger! burger!”

So there. It was the Mcdo commercial after all. Haha!

I burst out laughing! My son really has a good sense of humor. I had only seen that commercial twice so I had no idea that he was just making fun of me. Oh boy! I should’ve seen it coming.

He covered his mouth and gave me his familiar naughty laugh. I carried him and pinch his nose, “No, mommy’s tummy is not big…”

He shook his head and laughed again, “Tabachoy ka, mommy! Ayun o!” (pointing at my tummy).

Oh well. Kids don’t tell lies… So I might as well be serious with this whole diet thing. Hahaha!
