A girl named Nicole

Posted on September 8th, 2008 by Honney

Last Sunday, my son and I went to Market Market to play at Kevin’s Toys and Library. His daddy had a meeting with his boss even if it was his day off. So the two of us had to go to the mall without him for the first time. :-(

While my son was playing at Kevin’s, he met a very nice girl named Nicole and they easily became friends. She was left by her mom there so she can go shopping. While, I, on the other had to stay inside the playroom so I can watch after my son.

I was watching them play from afar while observing the other kids in the room as well. And obviously, Nicole’s amazing kindness stands out from all the rest. She was nice enough to guide my son to the stairs and slides. She patiently taught him how to play video games while he sat on her lap and played basketball with him. I was amazed by the maturity she showed me that day. At 6 years old, Nicole really did a great job being an “ate”. Her parents must be very proud of her.

So before our time was up, I took a few pictures of them together and thanked her for playing with Greggy. I was hoping to tell her mother how much I appreciate what she did for Greggy but unfortunately, Nicole’s mom hasn’t arrived to pick her up yet.

There were about ten kids inside the playroom and I noticed how each kid interacted with one another. Most of them speak English and I could tell that they all come from rich families. But the sad thing was some of them didn’t even care whether they pushed or hurt someone. Then there’s this five-year-old boy who even grabbed the chalk from Greggy’s hand while he was trying to write something on the blackboard. I asked him how old he was and he impolitely answered, “five years old”. Talk about good manners!

Anyway, I guess as a parent, my only wish for my son when he goes school is to meet and be surrounded by people like Nicole…

  1. Aww… very cute pictures. Hope you had a great time at the mall. Great blog. Wanna link exchange? x

  2. That’s also nice of you to see that Nicole stood out from the rest of the other kids there. I also cringe when I hear or see kids 4 to 5 years old and above act so impolitely.

  3. Adorable pictures. I remember being left at Kids at Work at Megamall back when I was a kid. I enjoyed it so much. Haha.

Nicole’s unique. It’s rare to be able to meet kids like her. Kids these days are quite.. bratty now. Haha. I dunno. Or maybe i’m just not too fond of kids yet, that’s why :p

  4. hi.. ive added you site on my blogroll a long time ago, hope you could add me up again on you list

anyways got a tag for you, be one of the contributors! Please join us – I Feel Okay Tag

  5. Wow. Nicole must have been a unique girl. Sometimes we can’t really control the environment wherein the kids live in. So minsan, talagang mapapabad influence sila dahil sa ibang bata. That’s the sad part.

Btw, care to exchange links with me? :D

  6. aww you’re son is so cute. it’s so nice to see someone grow. :)
